How much does a website redesign cost?
Real ranges by route, what moves the price, and the cost most quotes leave out.
A website redesign typically costs $800–$5,000 if you do it yourself on a template, $3,000–$10,000 with a freelancer, $5,000–$25,000 with a boutique agency, and $25,000–$75,000 or more with a full-service agency. The biggest price drivers are page count, new copy, custom features, SEO migration and branding.

Website redesign cost by route #
| Route | Typical redesign cost | What you usually get | Your time |
|---|---|---|---|
| DIY / template | $800–$5,000 | A new template, your own content | The most |
| Freelancer | $3,000–$10,000 | Design and build; copy and SEO vary | Moderate |
| Boutique agency | $5,000–$25,000 | Design, build, some copy and SEO | Less |
| Full-service agency | $25,000–$75,000+ | Strategy, design, copy, SEO migration, integrations | Least |
These ranges come from one agency's published estimate1. For comparison, one large agency publishes typical new web design at $6,500–$15,000 for basic company sites and $15,000–$50,000 for mid-sized ones2.
The six things that move the price #
- Pages and templates. More pages and more unique layouts mean more design and build work.
- New copy. Rewriting the messaging costs more than reusing existing text. Copywriting is often priced at about $60–$300 per page2.
- Custom features. Booking, calculators, member areas and integrations each add cost. E-commerce alone is often quoted at $5,000–$25,0002.
- Platform. Builder platforms usually cost less to build on than custom code, but may cost more to grow later.
- SEO migration. Protecting rankings (redirect maps, metadata, performance) adds roughly $2,000–$10,000 at agencies1.
- Brand. A full rebrand alongside the redesign adds roughly $5,000–$20,0001.
The hidden cost: rankings lost in a careless redesign #
The most expensive part of a redesign often isn't on the quote. It's the search traffic lost when old addresses change without redirects, content disappears, or the new site launches with “noindex” still on. That loss doesn't show up as an invoice. It shows up as a quieter phone for months.
Ask every bidder how they'll protect what already ranks. If the answer isn't specific (a URL inventory, a one-to-one redirect map, and post-launch monitoring), budget for the loss. How to redesign a website without losing SEO (checklist) →
How to compare redesign quotes #
Enter up to three quotes and tick what each includes. You will see what each costs over one, two and three years, and what each leaves out. Nothing is saved unless you ask us to email it to you.
Ask each bidder:
- Is copy included, and for how many pages?
- Is SEO migration included: a URL inventory, redirects, and monitoring after launch?
- Who owns the domain, hosting, code and content?
- What happens after launch: who improves it, and what does that cost?
- How will enquiries be tracked?
A one-off redesign vs a redesign inside a Growth Partnership #
A one-off redesign ends at launch. That's exactly when the real work starts: fixing what launch reveals and growing what works. In a Growth Partnership, the redesign is month 1. Months 2 and 3 refine it and grow it with SEO and ads, and for most local businesses, traffic starts within 30 days of launch.
| One-off redesign | Inside a Growth Partnership | |
|---|---|---|
| Research before design | Sometimes | ✓ Included |
| SEO migration | Often extra | ✓ Included |
| Copy | Often extra | ✓ Included |
| Improvements after launch | Paid separately, if at all | ✓ Months 2 and 3, then month to month |
| SEO and ads | Separate vendors | ✓ Included |
| Price | From $5,000 at Aroc, one-off | Typically $2,500/mo, 90 days then month to month |

When a redesign isn't the answer #
If the site already brings in enquiries and the problem is volume, a redesign may not be the fix. More traffic might be. If the site gets visits but no calls, targeted fixes can be cheaper than a rebuild. Does my website need a redesign? →

Questions people ask
How much does it cost to redesign a website?
Typically $800–$5,000 DIY, $3,000–$10,000 with a freelancer, $5,000–$25,000 with a boutique agency, and $25,000–$75,000+ with a full-service agency, depending on pages, copy, features, SEO migration and branding.

Not if it's handled properly. Read the checklist.
